International Women’s Day: DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.

On March 8, the world joins forces to celebrate, empower, and advocate for women on International Women’s Day (IWD). IWD aims to increase the visibility of women in various fields and celebrates and highlights women’s achievements and progress, in parallel with fighting inequality and sexism.

This year, the United Nations is observing International Women’s Day under the theme of “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” The theme aims to shed some light on the staggering differences in numbers between men and women when it comes to using the internet and technology.

With only 63% of women using the internet in 2022, compared to 69% of men, the consequences can be huge. The internet provides opportunities for learning, growth, and personal and professional development. Without access to these opportunities, women miss out on important skills that qualify them for a global job market that is becoming increasingly reliant on digital and technological skills.

Achieving equality in the technology sector is a substantial step towards a fair and equitable future of technology globally. Ensuring that women get the opportunities to participate in technology opens the door for more creative, out-of-the-box innovations that can also hugely benefit the female population by understanding and meeting their needs.

There is still a long way to go towards closing the gender gap in the tech industry. As of 2022, only 28% of the tech industry workforce are women. In S&P 500 companies, only 26.5% of executive, senior-level, and management positions are held by women. At Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft, women make up only 34.4% of the workforce.

Trufla prides itself on being a highly diverse workplace where 50% of executive positions are held by women. Our company policies promote inclusivity and equity, and each team member strives to understand the significance and value of his/her contribution towards closing the economic gender gap. In addition to prioritising employees’ work-life balance and fostering growth and personal development, Trufla strives to maintain a comfortable work environment for all its employees.

At Trufla, we understand the responsibility we hold as a part of the tech industry towards achieving equity for women in tech. A diverse, inclusive workplace where individuals of different genders, backgrounds, and beliefs can thrive and cooperate has always been a priority with every new step we take.

Trufla’s female employees continue to challenge gender stereotypes and inspire other people through their mentorship, commitment, and innovative breakthroughs.

We asked the women of Trufla to share a quote that motivates them to work hard and strive for greatness.

Get ready to be inspired!
